When dealing with police, keep it simple.

• Unless I am under arrest, I would like to go freely on my way. If I am under arrest, please identify yourself and explain the cause of the arrest.


• I refuse consent to any search, whether of my person, my personal effects, my vehicle, or my premises.


• I refuse to answer any questions unless my attorney is present.


• I will not waive any of my rights before I speak with my attorney. I wish to have an attorney present during any questioning, lineup, or search.
